Medicare Supplement Plans
There are ten Medicare Supplement plans available, each providing their own types of coverage. Before choosing a supplement plan, it’s important to understand what each plan covers so you can better assess your exact coverage needs and learn which plan suits those needs best.
Plan A
Plan A covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, and Part A hospice care.
Plan B
Plan B covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, and the Part A deductible.
Plan C
Plan C covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, Part A deductible, Part B deductible, and 80 percent of foreign travel emergency care.
Plan D
Plan D covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, Part A deductible, and 80 percent of foreign travel emergency care.
Plan G
Plan G covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, Part A deductible, Part B excess charges, and 80 percent of foreign travel emergency care.
Plan G most closely resembles Plan F.
Plan K
Plan K covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, 50 percent of Part B copayments and coinsurance, 50 percent of your first three pints of blood, 50 percent of Part A hospice care, and 50 percent of the Part A deductible. There is an out-of-pocket limit of $5,880 for Plan K in 2021.
This plan tells you how much it will pay for approved services before you reach the yearly out-of-pocket limit and Part B deductible. Once you meet the limit and deductible, the plan will pay for 100% of covered expenses.
Plan L
Plan K covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, 75 percent of Part B copayments and coinsurance, 75 percent of your first three pints of blood, 75 percent of Part A hospice care, and 75 percent of the Part A deductible. The out-of-pocket limit for Plan L in 2021 is $2,940.
This plan tells you how much it will pay for approved services before you reach the yearly out-of-pocket limit and Part B deductible. Once you meet the limit and deductible, the plan will pay for 100% of covered expenses.
Plan L most closely resembles Plan K.
Plan M
Plan D covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, 50 percent of the Part A deductible, and 80 percent of foreign travel emergency care.
Plan M most closely resembles Plan D.
Plan N
Plan N covers your Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B copayments and coinsurance, first three pints of blood, Part A hospice care, Part A deductible, and 80 percent of foreign travel emergency care.
This plan pays 100 percent of the costs for Part B services, except for copays for doctor visits and emergency room visits.
Plan N most closely resembles Plan D.
